What's "CAP"
The Community Access Program is an Industry Canada initiative to help provide all Canadians in rural areas with affordable public Internet access. It provides communities with funding needed to set up and maintain a public access site (also known as a CAP site).
The goal of the Communtiy Access Program is to set up across Canada network of up to 10,000 public access sites so all Canadians have access to the Information Highway, and all of the great features it has to offer. Industry Canada hopes the as more and more comunities continue to establish new sites they will benefit greatly through sharing both information and resources.
In addition to giving the people the opportunity for the public computer use, CAP is also helping the youth of our country. CAP has a youth initiative in which young Canadians between 15 and 30 (typically students, recent grads, underemployed, or unemployed) are given employment opportunities. Those who qualify are employed.
